I’ll believe it when I see it

A few months ago I went to listen to a lecture by Vianna Stibal,
who’s the founder of Theta Healing, the spiritual modality
and meditation I study.

It was a fantastic lecture, I was so impressed by her humility.
What an incredible woman. I will tell you more about my
insights from her talk, but I want to tell you about the
conversation I had with the doorman after the lecture was over.

I had a few minutes to wait for my friends to come pick me up.
It was late at night and the doorman wanted to chat 🙂

He wanted to know what it was all about and why 500 people
came to listen to this woman.

“Was it free??” he asked

“Heck no.” I said “It was a very expensive lecture. I paid $67 for the two

“Then what was this all about?” He asked
“I sew people come out of there shiny eyed and on cloud 9!”

Then I explained about the meditation and the spiritual work we do.

“I totally get it” he said “But you know – life is hard and gets in the way.
I have to see it to believe it. I need proof and then I’ll believe”

“You and most of the people on the planet” I said
“That’s why things in the world move so slowly. It’s backwards.

If we believe first, then the universe will gather up the physical
evidence for what we seek. It doesn’t work the other way around.
Don’t make this mistake”

“See” I said “We can’t haggle with the Creator! We can’t say –
show me proof and then I’ll believe. You will never get that proof.
God is not in the business of proving anything to any of us”

He said he understood, I really hope that he will take something
from this conversation.

Then he went on to hitting on me 🙂 Asking me how old I was,
so naturally I asked how old did he think i was and he said 24!!

Hehehe, it’s been many years since I was in my 20’s.
He didn’t believe me and demanded to see my ID!
Anyway, that’s quite a compliment I must admit 🙂
